· Lead and manage the design, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive compliance program that aligns with company objectives and regulatory requirements, including policies, procedures, and controls.
· Keep abreast of relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices, advising the executive team on compliance issues, changes in legislation, and their implications for the company.
· Oversee all aspects of export controls and sanctions compliance, ensuring adherence to export controls regulations, advising on licensing and documentation, and implementing necessary controls and training.
· Lead regular compliance risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and develop action plans to address potential compliance breaches and mitigate risk exposure.
· Manage the development and delivery of training programs to ensure employees understand compliance requirements and maintain awareness of regulatory obligations.
· Oversee internal compliance audits, evaluating adherence to policies and regulations, and providing reports & recommendations for improvement to senior management.
· Conduct investigations into compliance breaches or potential violations, coordinating with legal counsel and regulatory authorities as required. Propose corrective actions as necessary.
· Prepare regular compliance reports for senior management and the board, detailing compliance performance, emerging risks, and the status of compliance initiatives.
· Build and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies, industry associations, and external stakeholders to promote compliance best practices and foster an open dialogue regarding regulatory changes.
· Manage the engagement of external consultants and advisors.
· Lead and manage the implementation of technology to improve compliance processes.
· Stay updated on industry trends and changes in compliance guidelines, focusing on continuous improvement of compliance processes.
· Actively promote a culture of compliance and ethical behavior throughout the organization, encouraging robust discussions around compliance-related matters.
Job Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree
· Minimum of 10 years of experience in a compliance role, with at least 5 years in a leadership position within a highly regulated organization.
· Extensive experience and knowledge of UAE corporate regulations, including those governing the ADX, ADGM and SCA, and a strong understanding of trade compliance/export controls.
· Proven experience working in a listed entity and familiarity with public company compliance requirements.
· Demonstrated ability to navigate complex legal landscapes, manage risks, and influence stakeholders effectively.
· Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable compliance initiatives.
